Hon. William J. Condon (Ret.)

The Hon. William J. Condon is a former Justice of the New York State Supreme Court, having retired from the bench in 2022. Justice Condon presided over both criminal and civil cases during his time on the bench, including, most recently, State of NY v. Michael G. Valva.

In 2013, Justice Condon presided as a trial judge as part of a statewide initiative to address the unprecedented trial backlog in Supreme Court, Bronx County. Justice Condon’s varied experience, both as a jurist and as a practitioner gives him a unique perspective on dispute resolution which he now brings to Mediation Solutions.

Justice Condon served as a Principal Assistant District Attorney in the Suffolk County’s District Attorney’s Office for over seven years before becoming Bureau Chief of the Suffolk County Trial Team for State Farm Insurance Co., where he served for twelve years. He was a partner in his own law firm from 2006 through 2009, where his practice focused on civil litigation, criminal law, estate practice, real estate and commercial litigation. During that time, he also served as Counsel to the New York State Senate under State Sen. Cesar Trunzo.

As a trial attorney, Justice Condon has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury matters and has taken dozens of verdicts in both civil and criminal cases in virtually every venue and court in the New York City area.

Justice Condon co-authored a chapter in the 2021/2022 New York State Bench Book for Trial Judges. He has lectured on trial jurisprudence for the New York State Bar Association, at the Suffolk County Academy of Law, Touro Law School, St. Joseph’s College and Dowling College, as well as the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers.

He has presided as a judge in several moot court finals through St. John’s Law School and the Queens County District Attorney’s Office.
