Scott DeSimone, Esq. brings his wealth of real estate, municipal, tax certiorari and condemnation experience to Mediation Solutions to help resolve disputes involving real property or municipal law issues.

Scott has been practicing law at Scott DeSimone, P.C., for over 25 years, concentrating his practice in real property tax law and real property assessment review. He previously served as of counsel for tax certiorari to private law firms and municipalities including the Towns of Babylon, Huntington, Riverhead and Southold and the Villages of Laurel Hollow, Belle Terre and Shoreham.

His real estate tax experience also includes having served as former Special Counsel to the County of Nassau defending property assessments of properties valued in excess of $3,000,000. He has represented clients in commercial and residential real estate transactions, and in zoning and land use applications before municipal boards and agencies. He served as Special Counsel to the Town of Riverhead Zoning Board of Appeals, as well as Deputy Town Attorney for the Town of Riverhead and Counsel to the Town Board, where he negotiated settlement of pending tax certiorari litigation on behalf of the Board of Assessors, represented the Zoning Board of Appeals in Article 78 litigation, among other duties

Scott also worked as an associate for Siegel Fenchel & Peddy, P.C., where he concentrated his practice strictly in tax certiorari and condemnation. He served as Assistant Town Attorney for the Town of Brookhaven, where he advised the Supervisor, Town Board, Assessor & Tax Receiver on all issues associated with state and local legislation concerning real property tax administration. He was responsible for various real property litigation matters and all litigation associated with tax certiorari and condemnation, transacted all real property acquisitions and dispositions, and drafted local legislation and administrative code amendments.

Scott has argued appeals before the New York State Court of Appeals, the New York State Appellate Division, Second and Third Departments, and the United States Second Circuit Courts of Appeals.

Early in his career, Scott was an associate with the Law Office of Richard L. Farley, a general civil practice concentrating in personal injury and commercial litigation.
