Hon. Richard Hoffmann (ret).

Hon. Richard Hoffmann joins Mediation Solutions with over 40 years of legal experience on the bench, in private practice, and in public service on Long Island.

Judge Hoffmann started his legal career in criminal litigation at Sarisohn, Sarisohn, Carner and Lebow in 1982 and then worked with Ronald Schule practicing both civil and criminal litigation. In 1989, he became a partner in his own firm, and had a general practice with an emphasis on criminal litigation and real estate. While in private practice, Judge Hoffmann also served as Assistant Town Attorney and Director of Law Enforcement and later as Deputy Town Attorney for the Town of Islip and Counsel to the Recovery Agency, defending tax grievances, handling environmental litigation cases, defending various administrative boards, and acting as liaison to numerous town departments.

In 2007, Judge Hoffmann ascended to the bench as a Family Court judge in Suffolk County, where he served until 2016. From 2014-2016, he served as an Acting Suffolk County Supreme Court Justice. He left the bench in 2016 and practiced family law with the Hedayati Law Group from 2017 to 2023.

In addition to his legal experience, Judge Hoffmann has served on the Hauppauge Board of Education as a Trustee, and later as President. He was one of the founding directors of the Hauppauge Education Foundation, where he has served in numerous positions since 1997.
