Long Island Business News named MSNY Co-Founder Allison Johs a 2024 Who’s Who Women in Professional Services, which honors some of the Long Island region’s top professional women. LIBN recognized Johs for her work developing Mediation Solutions’ infrastructure, operations and marketing.

Johs has been active in both the Suffolk and Nassau County bar associations, serving on numerous committees. She is the former executive director of the Suffolk Academy of Law and is a past member of the board of directors of the Suffolk County Bar Association. She also serves as chair of the ABA’s Legal Technology Resource Center.

In addition to announcing the honorees, Long Island Business News asked each woman to share their views about some of the key issues they are navigating in 2024.

“More and more attorneys are turning to mediation and arbitration to resolve their cases due to the continuing backlogs in the court system,” Johs said. “In many jurisdictions there are shortages of staff and of a sufficient number of judges available to try cases that have been on the trial calendar for years. Many of our clients are looking for affordable, local options to expedite resolution of their cases, with ‘neutrals’ who not only know the law and the value of cases in these jurisdictions, but who are adept at getting results.”

“Mediation Solutions is always expanding its panel of neutrals and its service offerings to ensure that we can help our clients resolve cases in any area of practice,” she added. “Our neutrals are available not only for full mediation or arbitration to settle cases, but also to resolve discrete issues or discovery disputes in ongoing matters to help lawyers and their clients move their cases along and get to a point where they can make educated decisions about value and settlement.”

Johs also writes and lectures on marketing, social media, business development, productivity and practice management for bar associations, law schools and other legal associations. She has co-authored several books, including How to Do More In Less Time: The Complete Guide to Increasing Your Productivity and Improving Your Bottom Line, and Make LinkedIn Work for You, A Practical Handbook for Lawyers and Other Legal Professionals.

She earned a juris doctor from Fordham University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in English and political science from Dickinson College.
